HEMA

Durability • Concept Development • Materialisation

This was a 16 week school project for the HEMA. During this project we worked as a design company of ten people to create a product line foused on durability. The products we designed were a toaster, water kettle and a coffee machine. Together with three other students I worked mainly on the coffee machine. (2012)

The challenge of this project was in working with a large group af designers to create a single product line. Troughout the project we had to work together constantly in order to create three equal products.

During the research part of our project each group focused on the specifics of the product they were working on, while also working together to create a vision for our durable product line.

After our research we started our ideation phase with working out the technical aspects of our designs first, after which we moved on to the aestetics.

I translated our final design into a rendering for our mid-project presentations.

During our materialisation phase we worked together to detail the coffee machine and work out all of the most important features.

When translating the design to solidworks i focussed mainly on the coffee can. I also made a short exploded view animation of our whole product and combined it with those of the other groups. I wrote a recomendation/explenation in order to support my design decisions. Finally I made a product manual.
